Hope-filled Truth for a Triumphant New Year

Scripture:

Speaker: Pastor Miguel Betancourt II

Series: New Years Messages

Synopsis: In Romans 8:31-35, Paul raises seven questions about every influence possible that might obstruct the believer's confident, hope-filled assurance of present preservation and future glory. These challenges, in the form of questions, give rise to three fundamental, hope-filled reasons why in this new year, neither "things present nor things to come" (v. 38b) can prevent any Christian from being "more than conqueror through him that loved us" (v. 37).

What Gift for God?

Scripture:

Speaker: Pastor Miguel Betancourt II

Series: Christmas Celebrations

Synopsis: This past Friday we celebrated Christ's birth and exchanged Christmas gifts with loved ones. The idea of gift giving brings two thought-provoking questions to mind: 1) Have you ever considered a gift exchange with God? 2) What have you given to God to express your love and gratitude for His gifts to you? The psalmist seems to be thinking along the same lines with his question in Psalm 116:12. Using the acronym "S.T.O.P.", let's take some time to stop and consider what gift we should give to God in return to His many benefits to us.

Two Contrasting Responses to God's Revelation

Scripture:

Speaker: Pastor Miguel Betancourt II

Synopsis: In one sense, the challenges to Zacharias' and Mary's faith are no different than the challenges to our faith that we experience today. The specific circumstances of their test of faith is different from ours, but are there not things that we face that tempt us to respond with unbelief because we don't understand how God will supply our need or we don't see how things could possibly work for our good and His glory? In today's message we learn important truths from these two parents that we can apply to our lives today.

Celebrating as the Magi Did

Scripture:

Speaker: Pastor Miguel Betancourt II

Series: Christmas Celebrations

Synopsis: Tradition and time have embellished much of the events surrounding Christ's arrival to earth, His birth in Bethlehem. Though the simple facts of our text this morning may "pop the balloon" of excitement surrounding the traditionally portrayed account of Jesus' birth, yet the truths revealed in Matthew 2 do not diminish the real joy that is to be experienced! There is a great and holy celebration that occurs in this text of Scripture that we don't want to miss or downplay. How did the Wise Men celebrate the arrival of Christ? Our text reveals two ways. We can know the same joy when we take the note of the cause for their celebration and the manner in which they celebrated the arrival of Christ.
