Literally, the figure of speech being used here carries the idea of "a hopeful future" or a "hope-filled future." There are three arenas in which we know God's purpose for our lives and what that hope-filled future looks like.

From Hopelessness to Hope

Jeremiah found himself in a very difficult time of life and struggled with hopelessness. In Lamentations 3, he testifies of his journey from hopelessness to hope. If we can identify with him at the beginning of that journey, then there is hope for us that we can end up with the hope he had.
