When Towers Fall and People Perish
On this 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2021, our minds are directed to the memory of all who were lost on that day as well as to honoring all our first responders and military personnel who have sacrificed their lives to save others and defend freedom. Our text in Luke 13:1-5 is a chilling look at how Jesus dealt with the issue of national tragedy and the horrific loss of life. The two horrible calamities that are recorded in our text form the backdrop for Jesus' teaching on some important truths that each of us must come to grips with and act upon.
