The Thorns of the Curse and Crown
In the very statement of the curse given in Genesis 3, God announces the first gospel message in seed form of a coming Seed Who would reverse that curse! Note in particular one aspect of that curse in a very visible form: the presence of thorns and thistles.
Fast forward in time and now notice the reappearance of the thorns and its connection to this 2nd or Last Adam, the Lord Jesus Christ. In John 19, the Roman soldiers place on Christ the very emblem of sin's curse, of the 1st Adam's fall into sin. Christ wore that crown of thorns throughout the entire process of the crucifixion!
