Ever wonder why Christ had to be dead for three days AND three nights? Why not just for a few hours? for a day? On which day did Christ die? In tonight's Bible study we look to God's Word for answers to three important questions regarding the day of Christ's death.
Synopsis: Matthew 21:10b asks a thought-provoking question about Christ to which we must all give answer: "Who is this?" Your view of Christ directly impacts/shapes how you live life and what you do with and do for Christ. On that first Palm Sunday long ago, our text introduces us to "The Character and Coming of the King." Here are three important lessons we should learn from our text today.
Synopsis: Passion week climaxes with the crucifixion of Christ. The cross of Christ is not only the central fact of history, but it is also the central theme of Scripture. That being the case, we should not be surprised that Hebrews 12:1 admonishes us to "look unto Jesus...who endured the cross." It is good for saved sinners to look at the Cross in order that our love, appreciation and gratitude might be rekindled. It is good for unsaved sinners to look at the cross so the sight of the sacrificial Lamb of God might rescue their souls from sin's penalty. As we look tonight at Luke 23, there are four things we need to see as we "Look at the Cross."
Synopsis: Each of the four gospels gives an account of Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem on that first Palm Sunday. Did you know that event was the fulfillment of OT prophecy made a little over 500 years prior to it? This message unpacks Zechariah's prophecy and shows how his message of hope and encouragement of a coming King delivered in troublesome times is the same message of hope for us today in our uncertain times!
Synopsis: As we consider Luke's account of the triumphal entry of Christ into Jerusalem, it's important for us to see that on that Sunday long ago, the people's responses to Christ's triumphal entry are the same responses people give today. With which of the three groups do you identify? What will you response be to the King Who has come and Who is coming again?
