Thrive Teens
Our Anchor – God’s Word
Shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done…that the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: that they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments.... - Psalm 78:4, 6-7
Our Aim
The over-arching desire of our youth ministry is to display the many splendored excellencies of God’s nature. Our desire is to reflect Him in such a way as to give others an accurate opinion of the character of our God and how He operates. Therefore our purpose, goals, and guidelines for conducting youth ministry are governed by God’s timelessly relevant and authoritative revelation, the Bible, rather than the ever-changing fads or trends in youth ministry or the self-focused desires of our culture.
Our goal in youth ministry is to assist parents in teaching their children the truth of God’s Word—the truth about eternal life and how to live the right kind of life. We want our teens to develop a Biblical concept of God and allow His character to shape their thinking and behavior. We want them to live a life that is God-focused and God-dependent. To read the reasons why we do what we do and why our youth ministry is set up the way it is, read our philosophy of youth ministry statement.
Our Activities:
Teen Sunday School – Each Sunday we meet at 10:00 am where we enjoy solid biblical teaching that helps teens grow in their knowledge of the Bible as well as challenges them to incorporate God’s truth into their daily lives. Our aim is to help them not only become different but learn to make a difference.
T.H.R.I.V.E. Teen Wednesday night meetings - T.H.R.I.V.E. is what our teens are doing at Foster Creek Baptist! The name stands for the following:
- Trust Christ
- Honor God
- Resist Temptation
- Ignite Passion
- Value Souls
- Enjoy Fellowship
Each Wednesday night our teens meet for Bible study and activity time from 6:45 pm - 8:15 pm. They would enjoy having your teen participate with them! Check out their Facebook page here.
Monthly activities and special events – Since Christians are called upon to imitate the character of their God (Ephesians 5:1), exciting youth activities are a means to teach youth important Bible truths about God’s character or an important truth about the Christian life they need to embrace. We have a lot of fun and want other teens to join us! One highlight each year our teens look forward to is the annual youth rally held on a farm in the upstate of SC—Farm Fest! Approximately 1,000 teens from all over the Southeast descend upon Harvest Acres for a full day of fun and great preaching. Once a month we have a teen S.N.A.C. Attack! (Sunday Night After Church fellowship) at various locations. These are great bonding times where we eat together, play games, sing, share with one another and spend time praying together. You should hear our teens sing--a great blessing to hear!
Ministry Opportunities – Our teens are given opportunities to become actively involved in the various ministries of our church where they can display a servant’s heart and invest their lives in a cause greater than their own. Our teens play a vital role in our music ministry, in our summer Vacation Bible School program, as well as other ministries of our church.
Summer Camp program - Each summer our teens love to attend what we believe to be one of the finest Christian camps in the Southeast--The Wilds! Life changing experiences are sure to occur when teens immerse themselves in an atmosphere of godly sacred music and solid Bible preaching and teaching that is geared specifically toward their needs. The C.I.T. program is especially geared towards leadership development and intensive spiritual discipleship.
